In 1990, fans of fantasy saw the release of Robert Jordan's "Eye of the World" series released. And for ten years, one questions has been asked. "How many books is this series going to be?" The question was never answered over the last decade, until recently.

The Silklantern.com web site reports that Jordan has signed contracts to write three short prequels based on the "Wheel of Time" series. The novels are supposed to come in alternating releases with the remaining volumes of the series, with the first prequel coming out late next year.
In the article, Robert Jordan and Tor Books editor Teresa Nielsen Hayden elaborated on the contents of the prequels, the first of which is going to be an expansion of the story 'New Spring' which was published in the 1998 Legends: Masters of Modern Fantasy (ed. R. Silverberg) anthology.

Robert Jordan's newest book in the Wheel of Time Saga is called 'Crossroads of Twilight.' It is tentatively scheduled to be released the in November 2002.

I guess that more or less everybody has been awaiting the next book in the Wheel of Time series for some time now. It will definitely be interesting to see if Mr. Jordan can live up to the expectations. Especially after The Path of Daggers that was somewhat of a disappointment to a lot of people.
The book was released on November 7 in the US and will be released on November 16 in the UK.
